Each year, the San Diego Housing Federation brings together the region’s housing and community development leaders and professionals for a day-long conference dedicated to building and preserving affordable homes and vibrant communities.
The theme of the San Diego Housing Federation’s 24th Annual Affordable Housing Conference on Thursday, October 29, was “Housing Our Future.” Attendees included developers, city staff, consultants, and a broad range of people who care about housing in the San Diego region.
In a passionate keynote presentation at the beginning of the conference, California State Assembly Member Shirley Weber discussed the important role that affordable housing plays in the future of our families and our larger community. California State Treasurer John Chiang’s lunchtime keynote address inspired attendees to think critically about the future of California’s economic development.
Throughout the day, workshops in six tracks brought attendees together in smaller groups for in-depth learning and discussion. The tracks were: Design & Development, Policy & Advocacy, Supportive Housing, Outreach & Influence, Housing Finance, and Emerging Trends.
RSG attended this year’s conference and had an exhibit set up that detailed the critical role housing plays in communities. The objective was to tell people at the conference how the firm helps cities to tackle housing issues. RSG got to check in with several clients who were also attending. It was an opportunity to show some of the things RSG is doing to help clients to deal with difficult housing challenges facing their communities.
