The City requested that RSG Inc. analyze the feasibility of, and complete revenue projections for development of a grocery store. The City was seeking this information in hopes of developing a grocery store in the City and wanted to provide potential store candidates with information about the financial benefits of operating within the City. RSG determined the type and size of grocery stores that exist in the comparable communities in order to assess the feasibility of development of various grocery store sizes and formats within the City. RSG collected information on sales volume for each of the grocery store formats to estimate taxable sales and sales tax revenues for a new grocery store.  RSG included a 15-mile and 30-mile radius around the City to examine spending potential and leakage / surplus factors in the area recognizing that the City would attract customers outside of its City limits. RSG was able to recommend a suggested store format and size that could be supported by existing demographics and market conditions.
