COMMUNITY REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY/LOS ANGELES
ADVISORY COMMITTEE CONSOLIDATION AND PRIORITY-SETTING

Between 2009 and 2011, RSG assisted CRA/LA with a merger of several redevelopment project areas in South Los Angeles.  Each of the seven project areas had an independent Citizens Advisory Committee – every one of which was comprised of active, vocal members of this diverse community.  Over 70 individuals had a seat on one of these advisory committee, and part of RSG’s job was to facilitate the consolidation of these advisory committees into a single merged committee, and overcome fiscal, political, and demographic differences and opinion on what priorities would be among the divergent constituent project areas.  By early 2011, the steering committee aligned to shared interests and endorsed in concept the consolidation of the CACs to a single entity. Unfortunately, the State began to dismantle redevelopment and the merger itself was suspended indefinitely.
