RSG Joined Leading Development, Planning and Finance Professionals on LAEDC Reuse Charrette for Los Angeles Councilman Mike Bonin
On September 18, 2014, the Los Angeles Economic Development Corporation (LAEDC) and Los Angeles City Council District 11 hosted a day-long reuse discussion involving several key city-owned properties and their long-term development opportunities given the City’s need for affordable and workforce housing, economic development and more efficient use of city properties to provide increased city services.
Jim Simon and Tara Matthews, Principals, joined about two dozen other esteemed leaders from the City, nonprofit and for profit developers, planners, investors and property representatives in Playa Vista. Councilman Bonin and his team actively engaged the team, and came away with a variety of suggestions on potential reuse strategies and approaches for maximizing the use of these properties on the westside. Our role involved providing our insight in affordable housing best practices, trends in commercial real estate and market commentary to help keep the planning charrettee concepts grounded in reality.
We thank Councilman Bonin and the LAEDC for the opportunity to help shape some of the initial thinking on the use of these public properties and share their enthusiasm for the possibilities that lie ahead.
